The biggest problem of this lush green forest is that when the monsoon comes in the country, the entire area gets flooded. Due to which the people living here have to face severe floods.
Whose entire area gets submerged. During the rainy season, when the big rivers coming from not only India but also China and Nepal are in spate, the state gets cut off from the rest of the country. Hundreds of families lose their loved ones in this flood while crops worth billions of rupees are also destroyed.
But the biggest impact is on the wild animals here, because this forest is called a paradise for big animals because tigers, rhinos, elephants and hundreds of other small animals roam in this forest. In the last few years, there has been flooding here. Hundreds of animals have been destroyed since, although the government pays a lot of attention to this, but due to heavy water flow, this area cannot be controlled for some time due to which this loss occurs.
Heavy rains are still continuing in these northeastern states. Arunachal, Manipur Pradesh and Assam are immersed in floods. The rescue operation by the army is going on here. Kaziranga National Park has been submerged in floods. This information was given by the park's District Forest Officer, Arun Vignesh. He said that many animals including a baby rhinoceros and a pig deer have died due to drowning in water. While more than 70 have been saved.
At present, more than 16 lakh people are affected by floods in more than two dozen districts of Assam. Many people died due to drowning in this flood on Wednesday. Among these, there are reports of many more people being washed away in water in Sonitpur, Sivasagar and Golaghat. The total number of deaths in the state due to floods, storms and landslides is more than 50.
Many bridges have collapsed in Bihar due to heavy rains and strong currents.
Rain is a big test for wild animals because hundreds of animals lose their lives due to heavy rain on one side and big crocodiles on the other side.
Here are some of the main things we know:
• Drowned animals:
ü 17 wild animals have been confirmed dead, including rhinos, deer, tigers and wild boars.
ü 72 animals including 55 hog deer have been rescued.
• Flood affected areas:
ü The floods have affected 173 wildlife camps, covering a large part of the park.
ü More than 80% area of the park is submerged.
It is important to note that this situation is becoming more serious and there is a possibility of more animals becoming affected by it.
However, conservationists and the forest department are working hard to rescue and care for the flood-affected animals.
Every year Kaziranga National Park faces this kind of situation.
Ignoring wildlife has become a serious challenge today. There are many reasons for this and it has resulted in a threat to the existence of many species.
Some major reasons for ignoring wildlife:
• Habitat loss: The natural habitat of wildlife is continuously decreasing due to increasing population, urbanization, and agricultural expansion.
• Poaching and trade: Poaching and trade for meat, skin, and organs of wild animals remains a major threat.
• Climate change: Changes in weather and extreme weather events due to climate change are threatening wildlife.
• Pollution:
Pollution of water, air and soil negatively affects the health and reproductive
capacity of wildlife. • Lack of awareness: Lack of awareness among people about
the importance of wildlife and the need for their conservation is also a major
challenge. Consequences of ignoring wildlife:
• Loss of biodiversity: Extinction of wildlife species reduces the planet's biodiversity, which can have serious consequences.
• Ecosystem imbalance: Wildlife is an important part of the food chain. Their extinction may cause the ecosystem to become unbalanced.
• Threat of natural disasters: Wildlife plays an important role in keeping forests and other natural habitats healthy. Their absence can increase the risk of natural disasters like floods, drought, and soil erosion.
• Economic loss: Wildlife is important to the tourism and recreation industries. Their extinction will cause huge economic losses to these industries.
Solution:
• Habitat conservation: It is important to save and restore the natural habitats of wildlife.
• Ban on illegal hunting and trade: Strict laws should be made on illegal hunting and trade and it is necessary to strictly enforce them.
• Fighting climate change: High-level action is needed to fight climate change and reduce its impacts.
• Pollution control: There should be effective measures to control pollution of water, air and soil.
• Raising awareness: It is necessary to increase awareness among people about the importance of wildlife and the need for their conservation.
Every year Kaziranga National Park faces such a situation. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the wildlife and save them for the future generations.
