The Pretense of Civilization and Scandinavian Frustration

Finally, the ugly face of the Scandinavian media- which poses as the world's most 'civilized', 'liberal', and 'free'- has been completely unmasked, stripped of the humanitarian makeup it had been hiding behind for so long. For years, the global intellectual fraternity remained mesmerized by Norway, which sat comfortably at the top of so-called unbiased and sponsored rankings like the 'Press Freedom Index'. We, too, would occasionally wonder what kind of revolutionary elixir of journalism rained down upon this tiny, snow-covered country that led the world to revere it as the ultimate messiah of journalism.

But today, the picture is crystal clear. The real and disgusting proof of their so-called 'superior' and 'ideal' journalism is that they have infinite time to create petty, indecent, and frustrated cartoons targeting the democratically elected representatives of the world's largest democracy. This is not a sign of independent journalism; rather, it is a grotesque display of apartheid and a colonial hangover that still mistakenly perceives itself as the world's 'White Master'.

No External Interference Tolerated in Our Internal Democracy

Perhaps these intellectuals—who dispense 'global wisdom' from the comfort of their air-conditioned rooms amidst the bone-chilling, freezing winds of Scandinavian nations—fail to grasp the fundamental concept of how a real democracy functions. India is not a country imposed by force, nor does it exist on anyone's charity. India is a fully sovereign nation whose roots run deep into thousands of years of civilization. Whether the citizens here agree or disagree with their Prime Minister's policies, whether they criticize him or cheer for him—this is entirely our, and only our, internal matter.

This is India’s vibrant democracy:

  • We reserve the right to tear government policies to shreds while sitting at a tea stall in the morning.

  • We possess the courage to knock on the doors of the judiciary to challenge government decisions in the afternoon.

  • And we hold the passion to proudly clap and wave the tricolor in the evening for a decision made by that same government in the national interest.

This is our internal discourse, our domestic matter, and our democratic right. But in this domestic debate, a third country—which forcefully considers itself the custodian of global morality- has absolutely no right to poke its nose. Deploying petty tactics, mocking through crude satire, and attempting to demean our elected representative through cartoons is not 'freedom of expression'. It is direct evidence of deep-seated frustration and Mental Bankruptcy that can no longer be ignored.

A Direct Assault on the Sovereignty of 145 Crores

Foreign media and their puppet intellectuals often forget in their ignorance that in a vast and cultural country like India, the Prime Minister is not just an individual, a politician, or merely a constitutional post. He is the living symbol of the collective democratic will, aspirations, and resolve of 145 crore Indians. He represents the mandate of the people who stand in long queues under the scorching sun to get their fingers inked and decide the destiny of the nation.

Therefore, when a Norwegian media outlet passes indecent remarks or creates a cheap cartoon about our Prime Minister, it is not an attack on a single party leader or a specific individual. It is a direct and gross insult to the wisdom, intellect, and voting rights of every single citizen of this country who elected this government.

This cheap stunt by the Norwegian media clearly proves that no matter how 'civilized' and 'Number One' they claim to be on paper, in reality, their moral standard is worse than a gutter when it comes to respecting the sovereignty, culture, and democratic mandate of others. This is not art flowing from a cartoonist’s brush; it is the venom of sick minds envious of India’s rising global stature.

Independent Media or a 'Selective' Agenda? The Height of Hypocrisy

The time has come to peel back the layers of hypocrisy surrounding this so-called 'independent media'. Is this your independent media? Has the international benchmark of journalism fallen so low that it now merely consists of ridiculing heads of state of other nations, making crude fun of their race, appearance, attire, or policies? If peeping unauthorizedly into someone else's house, slinging mud at their systems, and passing snide remarks at their leader is the pinnacle of 'Freedom of Speech' for the Norwegian media, then Norway is welcome to keep such a rotten freedom to itself.

The reality is that this freedom was never absolute; it is entirely 'selective' and agenda-driven.

This media will never draw such aggressive cartoons about the racism breeding within their own country, the second-class treatment meted out to immigrants, or their internal social decay. There, their tongues are tied, and the ink in their pens runs dry. But the moment it comes to an emerging global power like India, their 'freedom of speech' suddenly starts leaping boundaries. This is not independent journalism; it is a well-calculated geopolitical conspiracy aimed at damaging India’s global credibility.

The New Avatar of the Western Supremacy Complex

This is not the first time a Western nation has targeted India’s democratic processes and its leadership in this manner. This pattern is centuries old. When the British came here, they brought the slogan of the 'White Man's Burden'—implying they had come to 'civilize' us. Today, though they have physically departed, their mental descendants are doing the exact same work in the guise of media outlets, think tanks, and human rights organizations.

This cartoon from Norway is a modern, digital, and disgusting manifestation of that same colonial supremacy complex. They are not troubled by the policies being formulated in India. They are troubled by the fact that the India which used to dance to their tunes yesterday, the India which measured itself by benchmarks set by them, is today leading the world on its own terms. They cannot digest how the same India, whose destruction during the pandemic they had predicted, distributed vaccines to the entire world. They feel the pain of India’s economy becoming the fastest-growing power in the world today. They are seeking a remedy for this pain and jealousy in their cheap cartoons.

We Do Not Need Your 'Certificate'

The citizens of India want to make it absolutely clear on the global stage, in no uncertain terms and in a stern voice, that we are fully capable of handling our problems, our debates, our differences, and our politics. We do not require any kind of 'certificate' from any Western country, any European think tank, or any frustrated editor in Norway to resolve our domestic matters.

Norway and its like-minded media must remember this warning:

"The India you are unsuccessfully trying to reduce to a single cartoon is the engine of the global economy today. We know perfectly well how to protect our sovereignty and the dignity of our representatives. If you do not know how to give respect, you should stop expecting to receive it either."

We are no longer in the habit of tolerating any blow to our self-respect. This is not the helpless India from before 1947, which you could insult on the cover pages of your magazines and laugh about. This is the new, self-reliant, and fierce India of the 21st century, which knows how to look you dead in the eye and speak.

A Need to Relearn the Definition of 'Civilization'

Ultimately, our advice to this so-called enlightened media of Norway is that before passing petty comments on other countries' democracies and their Prime Ministers, they should look at their own reflection. The new Nobel Prize for 'civilization' that you have earned through this crude cartoon has completely decimated your global credibility.

The time has come for Norway and other Western nations to relearn the definitions of 'civilization', 'decency', and 'mutual respect' afresh, without any prejudice. Until you learn to respect the sovereignty of others, your number one ranking on the Press Freedom Index is nothing more than a joke among renowned historians. India has never compromised on its self-respect, nor will it ever do so. Your agenda has collapsed, and the end of your intellectual tyranny is certain!
